Street Dreams Premiere In Hollywood
by rob campbell | Jun 10, 2009 |
I got a chance to check out the Street Dreams premiere in Hollywood on Monday night. Here are some out-takes from the Red Carpet.
Rob Dyrdek takes in the appreciation of “his people.” There’s no better way to gauge someone’s popularity then putting them in front of a live crowd. Without a doubt, Rob got the most frenzied reaction from people lined up across the street.
Forget about “wild-wacky-inflatable-arm-waving-balloon-man.” It’s takes a lot more to command attention in Hollywood. This giant skateboard was enough to draw in plenty of people, including Fuel TV host Pat Parnell.
Pat Parnell and Tina Dixon get to work hosting a show about the premiere that will air on Fuel TV. We’ll post specific air times once they’re announced.
An eager crew of “star gazers” gathers across the street. I would have loved to check out the American Apparel store if I had more time. Maybe later this week when I’m back up in L.A. for the Transworld Skate Awards.
Steve-O was another guy who got a huge crowd reaction. There’s nothing like hearing tourists yell out, “Hey, that’s that guy from the TV.”
Eddie Wall isn’t just a snowboarder for DC, he’s a pretty damn good skater too.
It definitely felt a little sacrilegious stepping on William Shatner to get photos of Eddie Wall, but Hollywood can be brutal.
I don’t spend a ton of time at these kind of events, but I’m pretty sure most of the attention is usually focused on the “celebrity” side of the red carpet. Rich Van Every upset the natural order of things with his outfit and outspoken technique.
Superagent Circe Wallace and DC’s Ken Block were sighted on the red carpet as well.
Dave Duncan. It’s always kind of cool to upstage the horde of professional photographers by bringing your own camera to the shoot. I know they were thrilled with me sticking a point-and-shoot into the melee.
Hollywood excitement and mayhem. Most popular quote of the night among tabloid photographers was definitely, “now WHO was that?” as pro skaters passed by.
Gavin Maloof made it to L.A. after hosting an event for The Maloof Money Cup last week. The guys from Transworld Skateboarding are still talking about it. Check out this exclusive interview with Gavin’s brother Joe.
Berkela Motion Pictures partners Sal Masakela and Jason Bergh pose for a less formal photo. I’ll save this shot in case Street Dreams breaks any box office records.
