225 Forest Opens In Laguna Beach
by rob campbell on Jul.06, 2009, under Uncategorized
Aaron Levant from Agenda kind of showed me up on this one. Not only did he get invited to the super exclusive party at 225 Forest last Thursday night (I came in on the more serious and sober tour Friday morning at 9:00 am), but he also posted his coverage before me. Anyway, it’s still definitely worthwhile to add a few more photos from the new Hurley/Nike 6.0/Converse retail space in Laguna Beach.

The Hurley heavies: President Bob Hurley, VP of Branding/Marketing Adrian Nyman , and CEO Roger Wyett. It's hard not to look happy when you're posing in front of that two-story Dalek piece that centers the store.
If you’ve got four minutes, check out the time lapse video of Dalek’s piece being created.
Design for Humanity Preview

Billabong Women’s Events Manager Amy Sorensen and artist Julie Goldstein. Julie will be one of the featured artists at this year’s Design For Humanity event next Wednesday.
I’m not really an “art show” type of guy, but I went over to Beachside in Encinitas last night because Julie Goldstein was showing some of her work. Beer+ Julie Goldstein = Me Going Out On A “School Night.” Then Amy Sorensen showed up and I realized that we had the makings of a quality Design for Humanity preview. The next time I see these girls together I’ll be at The Avalon in L.A., dressed a little fancier and drinking more expensive cocktails (but for a good cause at least).
There’s actually a great blog you can follow for Design For Humanity updates.
Select art from the show (including Julie’s) is up for bid on eBay from June 9th through the 16th. Here’s the link if you want to buy something, or just have a look.
We also just posted a great interview with Billabong Women’s Brand Director Candy Harris about the upcoming Design For Humanity event.

NHS Open House

I got the chance to book a last-minute flight and join the Transworld Skate crew (Jamey Stone, Mike Fitz, and Skin Phillips) for a trip up to Santa Cruz for the NHS open house on May 12. We’ll evenutually have some more in-depth content about this, especially in terms of board tech as the new P2 technology gets ready to roll out. Until then, here are a few outtakes from the trip.
Nike 6.0 Barbecue

During the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro, I got invited to a Barbecue at Riley Metcalf’s house. It was a very cool, low-key atmosphere at an amazing oceanfront home in San Clemente. Some of these photos are featured in the Scene section of our June issue.
